Reasons for the increase or decrease of sperm production

Usually women producing egg cells until menopause, and they are born with all the eggs they will ever need. Men on the other hand, producing sperm cells since the male sex glands have matured during puberty. But life style, stresses, daily activity or lack thereof, consuming alcohol, too much coffee and smoking can highly affect the sperm production.
When the sperm fails to be produced properly, getting pregnant becomes almost impossible. There are various causes for the increase and decrease in sperm production. The sperm quality factors usually affected are: sperm motility, concentration, morphology, and fertility. Any of these factors is very important and any deterioration vastly affect the chances to get pregnant.
Sperm motility refers to the sperm's ability to move and swim. In a healthy sperm, more than 50% can be considered as active if over 25% of them moving in one direction. High motility enables sperm to travel via cervical canal into the uterus and the fallopian tubes and finally fertilize the egg.
Fertilization, in turn, means sperm ability to reach the eggs and ability penetrate extracellular matrix surrounding eggs.
Sperm concentration refers to the measure of the number of sperm cells in a milliliter of semen. The average or normal concentration should be around 22 million sperm cells per milliliter of semen.
Sperm morphology refers to he shape and structure of the sperm. A healthy sperm cell has oval head and a tail seven to 15 times longer than the head. The oval head of the sperm holds the genetic material, while the center provides energy and the tail thrusts the sperm forward. Experts believe that improperly shaped sperm does not capable of fertilizing an egg.
Speed is another factor that affects sperm quality. Based on the study conducted by World Health Organization in a healthy male, beyond 25% of sperm should have good mobility. These are the sperm cells have the best chances to infiltrate and fertilize an egg successfully.
Overall sperm count is also a vital factor in sperm production. Count refers to the number of sperm cells in the fluid that is ejaculated. There are over 50 million sperms in a normal ejaculate, and a total count below 40 million usually indicate problems and decreased fertility.
Another factor is infertility. This term refers to the biological inability of a person to contribute to conception. The typical causes of infertility include sperm production problems, blockage in the sperm delivery system, injuries to the testicles, low or high hormone production, anatomical problems, varicocele, past illnesses, side effects of medications, and sperm quality.
Nowadays, increasing the volume of sperm ejaculation is a common obsession amongst men. During the last few years medical community had been committed to develop a safe and effective solution to increase sperm volume. Recent studies show that increasing sperm volume can actually be achieved in two ways. First is by taking herbal supplements which contain amino acids, zinc and other ingredients that can improve body's ability to produce healthy sperm. Amino acids, if taken regularly, are proven to increase ejaculate fluid volume. Zinc can improve both the amount of sperm produced as well as the sperm's ability to move spontaneously and independently.
The second way is a PC muscle exercises. Besides that Kegel exercises can help you last longer, they can also help you to increase sperm volume. Also several exercises can also help to keep your penis in a great shape and even allow to increase its size.
